Adele Has Said She Feels ‘Very Uncomfortable’ That She Chose To Dismantle Her Son’s Life By Getting Divorce But Could Not Ignore Her Own Happiness

Adele has said she feels ‘very uncomfortable’ that she chose to dismantle her son’s life by getting a divorce but could bot ignore her own happiness.

PARIS, France – The singer described the process of divorce and ‘turning up for yoursefl’ every day as ‘exhausting’ in an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

It took place in the same rose garden where Harry and Meghan were interviewed by the chat show queen.

The Tottenham – born star also said she was ’embarrassed’ about the split from ex – husband Simon Konecki and ‘disappointed’ for herself and her son, Angelp.

‘I’ve been obsessed with a nuclear family my whole life because I never came from one’, she said.

‘From a very young age I promised myself that when I had kids we’d stay together and we would be that united family and I tried for a really really long time.

‘I was just so disappointed for my son, I was disappointed for myself’.

The 15-time Grammy – winning singer, 33, sat down with Winfrey for a CBS special called Adele One Night Only to launch her new album, called 30.

The interview was interspersed with a pre – recorded performance at Griffth Observatory in Los Angeles.

She told Winfrey, 67, it was ‘as loving’ to leave an unhappy relationship to stay in one for the benefit of one’s children.

She separated from Konecki in 2019 following less than a year of marriage.

Speaking about her divorce, she said: ‘I was ignoring my own happiness…and I knew that, as an adult, Angelo would be livid with me for doing that.

‘When he became an adult he’d be furious with me, and I didn’t want that either’.

In her interview, notoriously private Adele spoke about mocing on in her personal life and dating sports agent Rich Paul.

The singer said she met him on the dance floor at a party, adding: ‘He’s just hilarious. Oh, he’s so funny. Yeah, and very smart’.

‘I met him and then a couple of – – couple years later, we went out for dinner, which he says was a business meeting. I’m like, a business meeting about what? We wouldn’t be having a meeting about business. And then it was just the first time, we’d hung out only on our own, and not with other friends and stuff like that. So that was very natural way. I think that’s how people would normally meet each other, like, in real life’.

she also discussed her dramatic weight loss to Oprah in the two years following her divorce.

‘I never looked up to anyone because of their weight I’m body positive than and I’m body positive now’, she said. ‘But it’s not my job to validate how people feel about their bodies’.

Midway through the live show, the singer engineered a surprise proposal for a couple of fans, who got engaged in front of the audience.

It comes ahead of a primetime special concert filmed at the London Palladium, An Audience With Adele, will be broadcast on ITV on November 21.
