PARIS, France – In walking distance from fellow luxury brands like Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and more Lafayette 148 has opened its new flagship store along the cobblestone street of New York City in honor of the brand’s 25th anniversary. In celebration of the launch, the brand hosted an exclusive cocktail at the brick – and – mortar space, followed by a small dinner party just around the corner at the The Mercer.
The event featured an installation by artist Lily Kwong that cultivated a fantastical image of New York’s urban streetscape devoured by diverse plantlife of purple majesty millet, Angelwing begonia, deep red pennisetums. As lockdown and social distancing mandates continue to fall away around the globe, the installation, and the event itself, is a reminder of what the world, including the fashion industry, has overcome in the past year. During the COVID – 19 pandemic, SoHo, in particular, was hit was an onslunghter of looters. However, the evening served as a great reminder of how far we’ve come in defeating this global health crisis and resuming social activities with friends.
The event was followed by an intimate gathering at The Mercer for a dinner. Actress Rosario Dawson and Quintessa Swindell were in attendance, as well as Lafayette 148 Creative Director Emily Smith and other friends of the brand.
