Kate played tennis with Emma Raducanu on Friday as they met for the first time to celebrate the teenager’s historic win at the U.S. Open.
Paris/France – – Raducanu made history when she became the first British woman to win a major title for 44 years, just weeks after collecting her A – level results.
The Duchess of Cambridge – who is known to be a huge tennis fan and patron of the Lawn Tennis Association – greeted the tennis superstar at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.
The duchess looked sporty as she slipped into her all – navy tennis gear for the afternoon.
It was a star – studded homecoming celebration for Great Britain’s U.S. Open stars including Alfie Hewett, Gordon Reid and Joe Sailsbury.
Raducanu has been swept up in a whirlwind since she lifted the throphy.
She has rubbed shoulders with the A – list start at the Met Gala in New York City, she has had a huge welcome home by her family and made a glamorous appearance at London Fashion Week.
The duchess was among the first to congratulate the rising star on her win.
She tweeted her congratulations, signing off with a ‘C’: ‘Huge congratulations @EmmaRaducanu on your stunning performances and historic Grand Slam victory!’ she began before going on to congratulates Fernandez.
