Canadian filmmaker David Furnish, who has produced musical dram Rocketman, will also work on the program. Markle added, ‘David Furnish and I have been eager to bring this special series to light, and I am delighted we are able to announce it today’.
The Netflix deal signed last year it said to be worth millions of pounds going into making films and television series. At the time, the straming giant said the pair would create ‘content that informs but also gives hope’.
Markle will be an executive producer for Pearl, alongside several others including Carolyn Soper, director of the 2018 animated movie Sherlock Gnomes, Emmy – winning Liz Garbus, a U.S. filmmaker whose work includes 2020 drama Lost Girls, and Carolyn Soper, producer of 2010 animated hit Tangled.
Archewell replaced Harry and Meghan’s Sussex Royal brand after they quit royal duties. The name was inspired by their son Archie – combining ‘arche’, the Greek world meaning source of aceion, and ‘well’ as ‘a plentiful source or supply; a place we go to dig deep.
