Louvre Abu Dhabi And Richard Mille Have Announced A $50,000 Art Prize

For its ianugural year, the Richard Mille Art Prize and its accompanying exhibition will spotlight local artists.

Louvre Abu Dhabi and celebrated Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille have annunced the launch of a new annual exhibition, Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here, and the creation of The Richard Mille Art Prize, with the aim of promoting the best contemporary art.

For its inaugural year, the exhibition and prize will spotlight local artists as part of the UAE’s wider 50 – year Jubilee Celebrations. The open call for proposals invites submission from Emirati and UAE – based artists around the them of ‘Memory, Time and Territory’.

The deadline for proposal is until 31 August and the shortlist of candidates will be selcted by a jury of international art experts. The winner of The Richard Mille Art Prize will receive a cash reward of $50,000 during a ceremony at the iconic museum.

Subsequently, Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here will be a yearly showcase of contemporary artists working in a variety of media from around the world. As part of a ten – year commitment between the museum and Richard Mille, the exhibition will see four to six artists selected through an open call, with each displaying their artwork in the Forum, a dedicated space within Louvre Abu Dhabi.

This initiative also represents a deciseive step forward by Louvre Abu Dhabi into the arena of contemporary art, as we further expand on our mission to shine a light on the cultural connections which unite us all’.

Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here 2021 will take place from this November unitl March 2022.
