In the spirit of connecting people and cultures, and with its dynamic lattice facade, the Japan pavilion links Arabic patterns with the ancient Japanese art of Origami. Designed by Yuko Nagayama and Associates, the 3D lattice structure is hosted within the Opportunity District of the Expo. Through its planes and agnles, the lattice remains a visually delicate feature, filtering in natural light – and providing privacy and shade – in a manner not very dissimilar to an Arabic masharbiya. The pavilion’s theme, ‘Join.Sync.Act’. Will invite visitors to discover the art, culture and innovation of Japan as it gets ready to host the next Expo in Osaka in 2025.
